2003 Presidency Race: Abia businessmen raise N200 million for Senators Lawan, Kalu’s nomination forms

Two businessmen from Igbere in Abia State’s Bende Local Government Area have presented a N200 million check to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, to purchase their presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2023 election for the 2023 presidency race.

Both Lawan and Kalu intend to run for the President of Nigeria in 2023 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This occurred less than 24 hours after the ruling APC’s national leadership released the costs of its nomination and expression of interest forms.

According to a statement released by the Orji Kalu Media Office on Thursday morning, the businessmen, Ukaegbu James and Nnanna Kalu, made the announcement on Wednesday evening in Abuja.

The statement stressed that both Lawan and Kalu are capable leaders who will succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

From their press release, the businesspeople emphasized that the APC required a unifying and committed leader with a thorough understanding of Nigeria to replace President Buhari in 2023.

“If we must do it right in this 2023 presidency race, we need result-oriented leaders like Kalu and Lawan to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari,” the statement said.

“Now is the time to show off our greatest hands because there will be no room for falsifying results.”

“By the weekend, we would have N200 million available to purchase their nomination papers.” Their track record, managerial skills, expertise, and leadership aptitude persuade us.”
